Overview
When you import a connection profile into OpenVPN Connect v3, you may encounter this error:
Failed to import profile Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'includes')
This error occurs when the XML-RPC API for OpenVPN Access Server is turned off. OpenVPN Connect relies on this API to process profile imports.
By default, the XML-RPC API is turned on with limited operations to support bundle installer downloads, server-locked connection profiles, and profile imports from OpenVPN Connect. If you change this setting and turn off the API, profile imports can fail with this error.
Resolution
Turn the XML-RPC API on using one of the following options:
Option 1: Enable the XML-RPC API from the Admin Web UI
- Sign in to the Admin Web UI.
- Navigate to Advanced → Web Service Settings → Configure XML-RPC/REST API.
- Select Limited.
- Select Save, then Restart.
Option 2: Enable the XML-RPC API from the Admin Web UI using the Config Editor
- Sign in to the Admin Web UI.
- Navigate to Advanced → Config Editor.
- Search for
xmlrpc.relay_level. - Select the pencil icon to edit the value.
- Use the arrow keys to set the integer value to 1.
- Select Save and Restart.
Option 3: Enable the XML-RPC API from the CLI
- Connect to the console and get root privileges.
Run the following command to enable the XML-RPC API:
sacli -k "xmlrpc.relay_level" -v "1" ConfigPut
Run the following command to restart the Access Server configuration:
sacli start
Verify the resolution
- Launch OpenVPN Connect.
- Import the connection profile again.
- Verify that the profile imports successfully without displaying the error.
